CONNECTING YOU TO GOD'S WORD, GOD'S PEOPLE, AND GOD'S WORK

We want to meet you where you’re at.

We live in a broken and complex world. As a result of this and sin, our own lives can feel broken and complicated.

However, we have a solution we can’t wait to share with you.

That solution is Jesus.

He paid the ultimate cost of our sins and brokenness with his perfect life and sacrificial death, and showed his power through his resurrection.

It sounds too good to be true, but we assure you, it is both good AND true. We’d love to tell you more.

Please join us at 8:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. on Sundays or 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays for our weekly services, or Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. during Advent and Lent. Whether you know a lot about Christianity or very little, we want to meet you at Bethany. Let’s walk through the path Jesus took for our salvation together.

What to Expect at Bethany

We strive for worship that is more timeless than traditional, more diverse than contemporary.

Our services typically last about an hour. We’ll work hard to make sure you feel welcome. But we’ll also tell it like it is—helping you come face to face with your living and loving God.

The focus will always be Jesus and the Bible. To make that happen, we are a church that follows an order of service—a liturgy. In the message and sacramental meal, in specially selected Bible readings, and in carefully crafted songs, prayers, and creeds, the liturgy proclaims the good news about Jesus from start to finish.

Our service may seem confusing at first, but everything we do has purpose and meaning. If you don’t catch everything your first worship service, that’s ok! We’d love to explain more in-depth why we do what we do.

We work to keep the entire body together.

We seek to enfold young people into the life of the entire church and encourage them to participate in worship with the whole body of Christ. For that reason, we don’t offer any kind of separate ‘children’s church’ for families with small children. We’d rather they learn about God next to the people who play the most important role in their formation as people—their parents. Our pastors routinely deliver ‘children’s sermons’ prior to the the Sunday sermon, taking the messages of the day and condensing it into understandable words for the younger children. Many of our members have small children. We feel blessed to have these little ones join us during our services.

In-between the Sunday services, during the adult Bible study, we offer ‘Kingdom Kids’ - a way to connect God’s Word to our children in a clear and precise way. If you’re unsure where to go, feel free to ask one of the ushers on duty.

We often celebrate the Lord’s Supper. If you’re visiting, we’ll politely ask you to abstain—for now. Here’s why.

Every other Sunday we celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. This sacramental meal is an expression of unity, agreement, and spiritual intimacy between the people who have committed themselves to membership in this church body. That’s why we ask guests and visitors not to participate—yet. We sincerely desire that all who come to us will eventually join us in the privileges and responsibilities of membership. We also understand that no one can make that kind of commitment without proper instruction. To help people along that path of commitment we offer instructional classes that, upon completion, open the door to full membership in the congregation and participation in the Lord’s Supper.

We are theologically conservative Lutherans.

The Lutheran Church traces its history to a man named Martin Luther, a church reformer who lived primarily in the 16th century. That was a long time ago, but his work has influenced churches ever since that time.

Our church is set firmly in the Lutheran tradition. Though not all Lutherans are similar, we are among the theologically conservative, which means we reflect what the Bible teaches with a Lutheran theological emphasis.

We believe that people are born sinful. In other words, people can’t help but do wrong and need to be rescued from sin and wrongdoing. Jesus is that rescuer. He is given to us by God’s undeserved love. We come to know him through the Bible. We are saved only by faith in him.
